Social fun for everyone
With yachties located from Nelson Bay to Soldiers Point, Sail Port Stephens has expanded the programme to ensure no matter where you are berthed, or where you stay, there is always something happening.
Regatta headquarters will again be based at d’Albora Marina Nelson Bay with satellite offices at the Anchorage Marina and Soldiers Point Marina.
Daily updates will come via twitter and Facebook so you can stay in touch no matter where you are. The expanded onshore events include marine walks, regatta markets, kids disco, kids movies under the stars, fishing clinic and lots lots more! There is a range of day and night social events across the regatta located at different venues to give you a chance to see a bit more of this little piece of paradise. There’s even a free Yacht on Wheels (aka; a bus) to get you to and from the venues.
The week of off -shore fun starts on Monday evening at Peppers Anchorage for casual dinner and drinks. A great chance to catch up with friends and foes and everyone attending goes in the draw to win a Hamilton Island Holiday!
Wednesday evening is the Commodore’s Cup Dinner with this year’s host, Nelson Bay Diggers – an event not to be missed so book early and secure your space.
Thursday evening is our inaugural Steak and Oyster BBQ at Soldiers Point Yacht Club where we will have the chance to welcome those teams arriving for the second stage of the week. There will be oyster shucking, yabby racing, music and fun activities for the kids.
Tuesday and Friday evening are free for you to get out and enjoy the best of Port Stephens. No matter whether you’re staying at Nelson Bay, Corlette or Soldiers Point you’ll be walking distance to some great dining spots. Make the most of these free nights and organise your crew dinner at one of the local restaurants. There is everything from fresh caught local seafood, wood fired pizza, pub meals, café style food or even fine dining.
Our Sail Port Stephens team can help you organise all aspects of your crew dinner from transport, bookings and local tips and hints! All you need to do is ask.
And last but never least... be sure to pack your best Hawaiian shirt for the Gone Troppo fun at All Seasons Salamander Bay on Saturday night. With great music and great food this is the perfect way to end the week. The thing that sets this event apart is that everyone is catered for – not just sailors. There’s a myriad of on-shore events and a busy social calendar to keep everyone happy!
Bring the family, enjoy the school holidays and stay and play after the Regatta. For those not involved in the Junior Regatta, Thursday gives you a play day and plenty of time to enjoy the many local attractions. You could go ride a camel or a quad bike on the largest sand dunes in the southern hemisphere, take a dive at our world famous dive sites or visit our famous Hunter Valley Vineyards just 90 minutes drive from the Bay. There is so much to see and do in Port Stephens – we think you’ll love it! Check out the entertainment program down at d'Albora Marina Nelson Bay.
